TASK 1:  VERTICAL LINE EXPLORATION  A feeling of apprehension and excitement raced through me at the prospect of starting my first 'official' day of university on Monday, but to my surprise it was actually a great start to my journey. The first task set was to draw ONLY vertical lines, ignoring anything else that we may have had the urge to add. Initially the task was really quite frustrating as I felt everything looked rather odd without any horizontal lines, but the more I fell in to the habit it of it the easier it became and I found myself enjoying it. The aim of the day was to make us spend more time actually looking at the landscape, rather than  drawing it with our own added interpretations which I think was succesfully achieved.  1.
