TASK 1: LINE - Vertical

TASK 1: VERTICAL LINE EXPLORATION

A feeling of apprehension and excitement raced through me at the prospect of starting my first 'official' day of university on Monday, but to my surprise it was actually a great start to my journey.

The first task set was to draw ONLY vertical lines, ignoring anything else that we may have had the urge to add. Initially the task was really quite frustrating as I felt everything looked rather odd without any horizontal lines, but the more I fell in to the habit it of it the easier it became and I found myself enjoying it. The aim of the day was to make us spend more time actually looking at the landscape, rather than drawing it with our own added interpretations which I think was succesfully achieved.

Here I tried to capture a sense of perception using vertical lines. My line weights and tones got lighter and thinner as the distance increased.

This drawing is of the side of a multi storey building. I tired to portray, through different line weights and sizes, a sense of perspective. The lines which are more prominent I have made darker through using multiple thick lines, whilst the less significant are much lighter and smaller.

I feel this sketch managed to capture the best sense of perception, with the use of different line thicknesses distinguishing the foreground and background clearly.

Project 5: Intervention Site Survey & Analysis

The aim of this task was to choose a location for a landscape intervention. My chosen site was Twinkle Park, Deptford, the surrounding residential area and the local community space/allotments. Below are a series of diagrams that have enabled me to analysis the site and take into consideration the existing features of the site and what suitable proposals to the site there could be.  Existing Site Context Plan: Base Plan of my Site: Site Survey Overlay Plan: Strengths, Opportunities & Constraints of my site: Constraints of the Site  Strengths of the Site Opportunities of the Site Mood Board- A few ideas and inspirations to help me visualise my proposals for the site.

Illustrator Practice

Each week I spend two days working in a multidisciplinary practice, working alongside the landscape team gaining invaluable knowledge and skills on my journey to becoming a landscape architect. Today I focused on creating a constraints and opportunities diagram for a site in Croydon in which  we are working on. Using illustrator I managed to create the two diagrams below: Opportunities Diagram:  Constraints Diagram:
