Brick Assingment

Project 3: FORM

PROJECT 3: FORM EXPLORING A JOURNEY THROUGH THE LANDSCAPE The first part of the task was focused upon collecting seven identical objects that can easily be moulded and sculpted to create a series of transformations.  My chosen object was a orange. I transformed seven identical oranges to match each of the transformations.  1. SUBTRACTIVE 2.ADDITIVE  3. DISTORTION 4. ASYMMETRICAL  5. SYMMETRICAL 6. FRAGEMENTATION 7. ABSTRACTION The second part of this task was to find a few examples of the use of transformations of form that have been used by Landscape Architects around the world. Below are some of my chosen examples: OMBRE, Canada Archicolture This project is an example of both an additive and subtractive transformation. Project 2: ROBERTO BURLE MARX

PROJECT 2: ROBERTO BURLE MARX ROBERTO BURLE MARX: 1909-1994 He was a Brazilian Landscape Architect, as well as painter, ecologist, naturalist, artist & musician.  His designs of Parks and Gardens made him famous.  He is accredited with having introduced modernist Landscape Architecture to Brazil.  Burke Marx's work has had a great influence on tropical garden in the 20th Century. Water gardens were a popular theme of his work. He had a skill of transferring traditional artistic expressions such as graphic design, tapestry & folk art into his Landscape Design. He was one of the first people to call for the conservation of Brazils Rainforests. Task 2: Hard Materials & Connectivity 1. PHOTOGRAPHIC SURVEY OF MATERIALS The focus was to look at the materiality of my site and look at the built environment, including the main roads, side roads, pavements, soft landscape, waterfront and park.  My photographic survey exploring the variety of surface materials on site.  A section of the floor is tiled creating a mosaic effect. Hard paving, along the Riverside in front of the new residential developments.  The use of 3 different hard surface materials.   Decking which is in Twinkle Park. It becomes incredibly slippery once wet.   Old cobbles along Borthwick Street.  Large stepping stones in contrast with the smooth decking.                                       2.
