Task 5
1. An outline of the two sites and design concepts

Above is a site plan at 1:200 of the two chosen sites I have selected to link together and develop more closely. |

Area 2 Proposal plan |
The proposal for my site is based on improving the existing open spaces as well
as renovating the existing hard landscape that surrounds the pond and that remains around the pond. My proposal plans to resurface the existing decking, to a more suitable less slippery alternative, such as resin bound gravel. I plan to also create new access points to and from Twinkle park, creating direct access routes to the surrounding residential buildings. The existing fence is currently quite a high, simple fence that seems block the outside world with the park. I plan to integrate the outside world with park by removing the large fence, and replacing it will a small trimmed hedge just to create an informal border. Many of the existing trees have been damaged by locals who use the park, or by animals resulting in many being scarred or hacked resulting in visual damage to the bark. Another of my proposals is therefore provide a form of protection for these trees from further damage. The existing steel structure that is in the centre of my site, I want to replace with a more eco friendly / natural looking shelter or sanctuary area by adding a series of edible garden walls in which the local community can benefit from. One last proposal is removing the existing rubbish from the pond area and refilling it with water, in hope to bring new insects and wildlife to the park.
3. Photos of my site from a residents perspective:
View from the residential buildings opposite the park |
View of the park from the newly developed flats opposite |
View of the park from the street |
View from the gates from the street. |
View from the windows of the large residential building opposite. |
View of the park through from the pavement. The view is mainly
blocked by long, tall fencing. |
