Task 6: Deptford- Before & After

Before & After

This task consisted of taking a series of photos of our site from a residents perspective. My photos were taken at my site in Twinkle Park, Deptford. I took most of my photos standing from pavements, the road or from the doorways of residents homes.

Below are two of my photomontages of my site looking at both before and after:

My proposals in each of my photomontages is to fill the existing pond with water, attracting wildlife as well as children to the park. I think water in he park is a key element being situated so close to the River Thames, therefore I have also introduced water play elements that encourage children to interact with water more. I have also proposed a new surface around the pond as currently the existing decking gets slippery once it becomes wet which is a hazard when being so close to a pond. Instead I would specify resin bound gravel, or a material that provides more grip and is more permeable to water.  Also, I have included a green wall on the existing building which faces the park, blending in the hard landscape with a more subtle green edge. More tree planting around the pond area would also help to disguise the tall block of flats in the background, creating a quiet, secluded sanctuary around the pond.

Illustrator Practice

Each week I spend two days working in a multidisciplinary practice, working alongside the landscape team gaining invaluable knowledge and skills on my journey to becoming a landscape architect. Today I focused on creating a constraints and opportunities diagram for a site in Croydon in which  we are working on. Using illustrator I managed to create the two diagrams below: Opportunities Diagram:  Constraints Diagram:
