Summer Internship at PRP Architects

Throughout my summer I have been working alongside a team of landscape architects at PRP, based in London. I have gained much experience throughout my time here so far and it has given me a real insight into what the world of working in a practice is like. I have managed to put my skills learnt during the first year of university to good use, as well as enhancing them and developing new ones. I have helped on a variety of projects, some at a much larger scale than others. I have also been given my own site to develop and design, based in the London borough of Redbridge. During this project  I have had to attend consultations, come up with a strong concept, design planting plans, help put together a Design & Access statement and develop a new playground/courtyard for the residents. I have also helped out on a variety of other different projects and tasks. Spending my summer here has really allowed me to develop my technical and drawing skills, whilst providing me with the experience of working within such a large practice.

Below are some diagrams of the project in Redbridge I have been working on.

The concept was initially inspired by Dutch painter, Mondrian, who would only ever use the 3 primary colours upon a grid of vertical black lines on a white background. The sites layout and existing shape, lead me to this starting concept.

Below are some images of Mondrian's style of work and a collection of ideas that will help to inspire and aid my design.

Project 5: Intervention Site Survey & Analysis

The aim of this task was to choose a location for a landscape intervention. My chosen site was Twinkle Park, Deptford, the surrounding residential area and the local community space/allotments. Below are a series of diagrams that have enabled me to analysis the site and take into consideration the existing features of the site and what suitable proposals to the site there could be.  Existing Site Context Plan: Base Plan of my Site: Site Survey Overlay Plan: Strengths, Opportunities & Constraints of my site: Constraints of the Site  Strengths of the Site Opportunities of the Site Mood Board- A few ideas and inspirations to help me visualise my proposals for the site.

Illustrator Practice

Each week I spend two days working in a multidisciplinary practice, working alongside the landscape team gaining invaluable knowledge and skills on my journey to becoming a landscape architect. Today I focused on creating a constraints and opportunities diagram for a site in Croydon in which  we are working on. Using illustrator I managed to create the two diagrams below: Opportunities Diagram:  Constraints Diagram:
