Planting Design for a Small garden

Below is a small planting plan of the garden I have designed for a the front and back garden planting, situated in West Wickham. The projects brief was to create an enclosed, private garden with plants that would create an area of clam and quietness. I chose a wide variety of plants including, Photinia x fraseri 'Red Robin' to plant at the back of the border as well as an Aucuba japonica for height and privacy. For the front of the border I chose low growing, good ground cover plants such as a Geranium cantabrigiense 'Biokono' and Vinca major.

Summer Internship at PRP Architects

Throughout my summer I have been working alongside a team of landscape architects at PRP, based in London. I have gained much experience throughout my time here so far and it has given me a real insight into what the world of working in a practice is like. I have managed to put my skills learnt during the first year of university to good use, as well as enhancing them and developing new ones. I have helped on a variety of projects, some at a much larger scale than others. I have also been given my own site to develop and design, based in the London borough of Redbridge. During this project  I have had to attend consultations, come up with a strong concept, design planting plans, help put together a Design & Access statement and develop a new playground/courtyard for the residents. I have also helped out on a variety of other different projects and tasks. Spending my summer here has really allowed me to ...

Task 6: Deptford- Before & After

Before & After This task consisted of taking a series of photos of our site from a residents perspective. My photos were taken at my site in Twinkle Park, Deptford. I took most of my photos standing from pavements, the road or from the doorways of residents homes. Below are two of my photomontages of my site looking at both before and after: 1. Before After 2. Before After  Before  After  Location Plan - After  Location Plan- Before My proposals in each of my photomontages is to fill the existing pond with water, attracting wildlife as well as children to the park. I think water in he park is a key element being situated so close to the River Thames, therefore I have also introduced water play elements that encourage children to interact with water more. I have also proposed a new surface around the pond as currently the existing decking gets slippery once it becomes wet whic...

Project 5: Intervention Site Survey & Analysis

The aim of this task was to choose a location for a landscape intervention. My chosen site was Twinkle Park, Deptford, the surrounding residential area and the local community space/allotments. Below are a series of diagrams that have enabled me to analysis the site and take into consideration the existing features of the site and what suitable proposals to the site there could be.  Existing Site Context Plan: Base Plan of my Site: Site Survey Overlay Plan: Strengths, Opportunities & Constraints of my site: Constraints of the Site  Strengths of the Site Opportunities of the Site Mood Board- A few ideas and inspirations to help me visualise my proposals for the site.

Task 5

Task 5 1. An outline of the two sites and design concepts Above is a site plan at 1:200 of the two chosen sites I have selected to link together and develop more closely.  Area 1 of my site 1:100 Area 2 of my site 1:100 The site analysed, showing the strengths, weaknesses and proposals  Area 1 proposal layer  Area 2 Proposal plan The proposal for my site is based on improving the existing open spaces as well  as renovating the existing hard landscape that surrounds the pond and that remains around the pond. My proposal plans to resurface the existing decking, to a more suitable less slippery alternative, such as resin bound gravel. I plan to also create new access points to and from Twinkle park, creating direct access routes to the surrounding residential buildings. The existing fence is currently quite a high, simple fence that seems block the outside world with the park. I plan to integrate the outside w...
