PROJECT 1: LINEAR EXPERIENCES MAP

PROJECT 1: LINEAR EXPERIENCES MAP Exploring a journey through the landscape- from Stockwell Street to Sayes Court Park, Deptford. Our first project consisted of creating a Linear Experiences Map as a way of representing our initial feelings and emotions towards different areas through the site as we walked the route provided for us. My emotions and initial reactions to the site were heavily altered by the weather, for example my main memory of Sayes Court Park was the torrential rain. Smell, sound, people and materials all also impacted by impression of each site. Above is the map we followed. The route that we took is highlighted by the red dashed line. Below is the Linear map I created in response to my walk through the route: Above is my visual linear experiences map. I have represented each site with colours and emotions, the way each site made me feel at the time. The faces I use sum up my overall impression of the area. I have also included certain elements

TASK 1: Tree Species

TASK 1: Tree Species Above are 10 thumbnail sketches of different ways you could graphically represent a tree. I have used collage elements such as green tissue paper and cotton wool, as well as acrylic paint, and a variety of different patterns and pen thickness to all represent the different styles that can be used to represent a tree.  1 example of a tree species, represented in a graphic style. The concepts of a tree:  Ecology Environmental  Vegetation  Habitat Money  Nature Organic/Biological  Resource  Lungs  Lightbulb  My concept of a tree: A cog Without a cog everything would stop working - 02, Paper, Timber all produced from trees. Above I have represented the seasons through the different elements that appear on a tree during different times of the year.  Another graphic example of how to represent a species of tree.  Site Plan of a section of my site. I have chosen this area in particular as its an area with a highly populated n

HARD MATERIALS: Taking note of our surroundings

Twinkle Park & The Surrounding Area

The Landing Stage Below are some photos of the derelict and run down existing landing stage that still remains on the riverside between Greenwich and Deptford today. The old landing stage no longer looks very stable or able to hold any weight. Parts of it are falling away into the River This is the view from the street- very unappealing to look at. No public access is permitted.   No longer accessible to people. Not a pleasant view in the landscape.  A cage underneath the landing stage looking out of place.  The riverbank surrounding the Landing stage covered with dirt and rubbish.    Neat, clean and structured paving found within the new developments in front of Borthwick Wharf. Organised decking laid in front of the new developments, providing a space to overlook the Thames.   There is a vast mix match of pebbles & stones along Watergate Street, sho
