PROJECT 1: LINEAR EXPERIENCES MAP

PROJECT 1: LINEAR EXPERIENCES MAP

Exploring a journey through the landscape- from Stockwell Street to Sayes Court Park, Deptford.

Our first project consisted of creating a Linear Experiences Map as a way of representing our initial feelings and emotions towards different areas through the site as we walked the route provided for us. My emotions and initial reactions to the site were heavily altered by the weather, for example my main memory of Sayes Court Park was the torrential rain. Smell, sound, people and materials all also impacted by impression of each site.

Above is the map we followed. The route that we took is highlighted by the red dashed line.

Below is the Linear map I created in response to my walk through the route:

Above is my visual linear experiences map. I have represented each site with colours and emotions, the way each site made me feel at the time. The faces I use sum up my overall impression of the area. I have also included certain elements of the walk that particularly stood out, for example the writing, 'JUST WHAT WE NEED MORE HOUSES FOR THE RICH'.

As you can see my reactions fluctuated as I continued to walk along the route from happy to sad feelings to angry or worried. I have represented these emotions through the use of different colours, materials and textures as well as the use of faces to express the variety of emotions felt clearly.

Project 5: Intervention Site Survey & Analysis

The aim of this task was to choose a location for a landscape intervention. My chosen site was Twinkle Park, Deptford, the surrounding residential area and the local community space/allotments. Below are a series of diagrams that have enabled me to analysis the site and take into consideration the existing features of the site and what suitable proposals to the site there could be.  Existing Site Context Plan: Base Plan of my Site: Site Survey Overlay Plan: Strengths, Opportunities & Constraints of my site: Constraints of the Site  Strengths of the Site Opportunities of the Site Mood Board- A few ideas and inspirations to help me visualise my proposals for the site.

Illustrator Practice

Each week I spend two days working in a multidisciplinary practice, working alongside the landscape team gaining invaluable knowledge and skills on my journey to becoming a landscape architect. Today I focused on creating a constraints and opportunities diagram for a site in Croydon in which  we are working on. Using illustrator I managed to create the two diagrams below: Opportunities Diagram:  Constraints Diagram:
