TASK 6: LINE- Connectivity

Task 6: LINE- Connectivity

Task 6 is based on connectivity and producing an idea that links to the concept of the 'Thames lighter" as well as previous tasks 1-5. The idea is to explore how a simple concept can evolve into a more technical and complex design.

The brief for the Thames Lighter included:
1) The Lighter must be sited on on or near to the original intervention.
2) Include a colour that you have previously surveyed.
3)Explore the site vertically and horizontally.
4) It must also have a day and night time presence

A "Thames Lighter" used to carry people and goods across and around the Thames. Linking my installation to this I have designed my structure with enough space to hold a handful of people and transport them in a vertical direction. Sited on the riverbed, it and will rise and fall as the river does. The idea is that my structure will provide people with a different view of Deptford, Greenwich and the River Thames as it will rise to a height of 12metre providing a different view to that on the ground. The triangular shaped pod will be opaque, but have a green tone to it so it will blend in with the surrounding algae on the riverbed.

My installation during the day

My installation during the night

A scale model of my installation. One of the sides will drop in order to allow people enter and leave the pod. The sides will all be opaque with a green tint and the floor will be glass so people can see below as they rise.

Project 5: Intervention Site Survey & Analysis

The aim of this task was to choose a location for a landscape intervention. My chosen site was Twinkle Park, Deptford, the surrounding residential area and the local community space/allotments. Below are a series of diagrams that have enabled me to analysis the site and take into consideration the existing features of the site and what suitable proposals to the site there could be.  Existing Site Context Plan: Base Plan of my Site: Site Survey Overlay Plan: Strengths, Opportunities & Constraints of my site: Constraints of the Site  Strengths of the Site Opportunities of the Site Mood Board- A few ideas and inspirations to help me visualise my proposals for the site.

Illustrator Practice

Each week I spend two days working in a multidisciplinary practice, working alongside the landscape team gaining invaluable knowledge and skills on my journey to becoming a landscape architect. Today I focused on creating a constraints and opportunities diagram for a site in Croydon in which  we are working on. Using illustrator I managed to create the two diagrams below: Opportunities Diagram:  Constraints Diagram:
